Shivani Smith

Business Development Director

Shivani joined nfpSynergy in May 2009, to work on business development and marketing. Having spent several years volunteering and working within the not for profit sector in India, Kenya and the UK, Shivani has extensive hands-on experience of working within charity and development organisations. She has worked on innovative cross-sector partnerships including dance therapy for children affected by HIV/AIDS in India, and youth-led community development initiatives in East London.

Shivani previously worked with Common Purpose, a cross sector leadership development organisation, and helped establish The Twist Partnership, a not for profit consultancy. At Twist she helped to design, develop and deliver peer-to-peer leadership programmes for clients from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

She then moved to Cause and Effect, a CSR consultancy, where she managed a number of key client relationships with blue chip companies as well as national and international charities. Her accounts included partner acquisition for charities and companies, developing fundraising strategies, project evaluation and cross sector partnership management. Before joining the nfpSynergy  team, she was responsible for developing corporate partnerships at Rathbone, a national charity that supports disadvantaged young people. Shivani has a BSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from the University of York.
