You Can Take a Gift Aid Horse to Water Report

Gift Aid Research

Gift aid was introduced in 2000 and since then has become one of the most successful new government initiatives to support and develop charity fundraising.

Our research in this area is designed to help us better understand the way that charities are marketing Gift Aid and Share Giving – two areas of fundraising particularly affected by the Government’s changes to the tax regime in recent years.

We are working to try and develop a clear understanding of best practice in this area and to produce some benchmarks of expected use.

We have conducted the research twice before, for copies of our previous reports please go to our free reports section.

Gift Aid 2006

We sent the 2006 questionnaire out to everyone who has completed it in the past plus as many people as we thought would be able to contribute to the survey.

The questionnaire was divided into five sections. Section A was about Gift Aid and experiences of, and successes with promoting it.  Section B asked about Gift Aid audits.  Section C was about share giving and is for charities that actively market share giving.  Section D was for organisations that are not actively marketing share giving.  Section E looked at income trends and how they are benchmarked.  The final section F asked about each individual organisation responding to the questionnaire.

We have had around 140 completed responses. You can download the results in pdf format here:
