Outgoing Institute of Fundraising chair Joe Saxton is to head up a campaign to reduce charity fees on text message donations.
Currently the fundraising method is not considered to be cost-effective for charities but it is important way of reaching younger donors.
Saxton will put together a coalition of support from fundraising charities, infrastructure bodies, media organisations and celebrities.
He intends to research the issue and will start discussions with mobile providers, key stakeholders and industry regulators towards the end of the year.
The Institute of Fundraising’s annual conference takes place over the next three days.
